AntiFake Title: Ambassador Pieklo Said Minsk and Normandy Formats Not Working

AntiFake Content: The truth is a far cry from Ukraina.ru's claim and as usual has to do with Russian media manipulation and phrases taken out of context. Ambassador Pieklo in an interview with the Ukrainian weekly Fokus expressed the view that the Minsk and Normandy formats dealing with the conflict in Donbas are not working and other solutions should be considered. Pieklo points out that the war in Yugoslavia only ended with the intervention of both NATO and the US. However, the inclusion of NATO in the Donbas conflict resolution could lead to an even greater confrontation, Pieklo says and points out that without the US, it will be very difficult to achieve peace in Donbas.

AntiFake Title: Merkel: The Minsk Process Will Continue

AntiFake Content: Neither Chancellor Merkel nor President Macron made any statements even remotely similar to what Peskov claimed they said. Merkel said that the Minsk process will continue, “progress has been very, very slow – with stagnation in some cases, relapses in others. We didn’t gloss over the situation.” Emmanuel Macron pointed out how complicated the situation in eastern Ukraine is, that is why negotiations must continue.

AntiFake Title: The Only Credible Candidate for the Missile Launcher That Downed MH17 is Russian Buk 332

AntiFake Content: Between June 23-25, 2014, Russia’s 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade transported vehicles within Russia to positions close to the Russian border with Ukraine. This includes Buk 332, later photographed and filmed in Ukraine on July 17 and 18, 2014. On July 17, 2014, Buk 332 was in Ukraine, and arrived in Donetsk in the morning. From there, while loaded onto red low-loader, it traveled eastwards through separatist-held territory, and eventually reached the town of Snizhne in the early afternoon. After arriving in Snizhne, Buk 332 was unloaded and drove under its own power southward, out of town. Buk 332 arrived at a field south of Snizhne and fired a missile that resulted in the destruction of flight MH17. The only credible candidate for the missile launcher that downed MH17 is Russian Buk 332, of the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

AntiFake Title: No EU Announcements On Possible Sanctions Against US

AntiFake Content: Speaking about the new US sanctions on July 26 European Commission President Jean Claude Junker said that while the EU fully supports Russia sanctions, the new American bill could have unintended unilateral effects on EU energy security. If the US does not take European concerns into account sufficiently, the EU would act appropriately. Junker said nothing about EU sanctions against the US. Russia Today cites German economy minister Brigitte Zyries about retaliatory EU responses. What Zyries actually said was that she hoped the US administration had not moved on the sanctions with a view to harming Europe and that a trade war between the EU and the would be “very bad.” “Update: (31.7.2017): The German economy minister Brigitte Zypries said today that, the USA are leaving the joint sanctions-mechanism with the EU, Zypries told the German Funke-Mediengruppe: “Unfortunately they are doing so, so it is right for the EU Commission to take countermeasures.” Europe is also willing to take them in the short term, “also in other areas”. Rex Tillerson said in response that he is interested to find a balance and dialogue with the European partners. The outcome of the EU-response and coordination between the US and the EU is currently open.”

AntiFake Title: Ukraine denied that it had ever supplied defense technology to North Korea

AntiFake Content: Michael Elleman of the International Institute of Strategic Studies quoted by the New York Times on August 14, 2017 assumes that an unknown number of missile engines produced by Ukraine's Yuzhmash "were probably acquired". He is not claiming the transfer was done by Ukraine's government: "This is not to suggest that the Ukrainian government was involved". The secretary of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Council, Oleksandr Turchynov, said Ukraine "has never supplied rocket engines or any kind of missile technology to North Korea." State-owned Yuzhmash said it had not produced military-grade ballistic missiles since independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. In fact, Ukraine cooperates on the missile technologies with South Korea, not North Korea. Ukraine's acting space agency chief Yuriy Radchenko also told journalists "Such engines were made up to 2001 by Ukraine's Yuzhmash (plant)". He said the RD-250 engines were used in Cyclone-2 and Cyclone-3 space rockets supplied to Russia. SIPRI expert Siemon Wezeman says "Ukrainian engines for Yak-130 and Project-11356 frigates (both produced in Russia), as well as several Antonov An-140 and An-178 transport aircraft were delivered from Ukraine to Russia also after Ukraine put a ban on exports to Russia. Yak-130 were delivered in the period 2009-2016 and the first of the frigates in 2016, and more aircraft and frigates are still being produced for delivery in 2017 or later. The Antonov aircraft are produced in Russia under Ukraine's license." Reuters is quoting U.S. intelligence officials as saying they believe North Korea can produce its own missile engines and does not need to import the technology from Ukraine. When asked about the matter on August 15, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert appeared to side with Ukraine, saying it had a "very strong nonproliferation record." At the same time pro-Russian groups are trying to prevent US-Ukrainian military-technical cooperation - in 2016 a pro-Russian KiberBerkut group produced a fake video of ISIS militants fighting among Ukrainians. Based on reporting by Aleksei Bobrovnikov, StopFake, UNIAN, RFERL, Reuters and SIPRI.

AntiFake Title: A Patriotic Greeting to Support Ukraine

AntiFake Content: The only protests that RT uses to illustrate its claim are all from Russian accounts, they are filled with reposts of conspiracy theory tweets and pro-Russian propaganda. According to historians, ‘Glory to Ukraine” was first used as a greeting in 1919 among partisans resisting the Bolshevik invasion of Ukraine. Later Ukrainian National Republic cavalry regiments took up the greeting, as did the the Hetmanate, independent Ukrainian states that were unable to defeat the Bolsheviks. The greeting became an official slogan of the Ukrainian Nationalists only in 1941, when the response ‘Glory to the Heroes’ was added. The greeting entered the mainstream after the Maidan revolution; today it is used as a patriotic greeting and a sign of support for Ukraine.
